I've been working on a few ideas including -- Visiting Ammachi, a two-year-old photo project that isn't merely documenting my grandmother in a nursing home; it explores what it means when a woman from a traditional South Asian culture -- where elders are cared for by relatives until death -- ends up in a nursing home because of her cantankerous personality. Images are deleted, added and re-arranged as I progress. Cat Food Sandwich, a blog providing news analysis and commentary on veganism and animal-rights topics. Some recipes, food critiques and interviews will be thrown in, too. Gulf Impacts Documentation, I spent 11 days (June 15-25, 2010) in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region photographing two things: New Orleans' struggle to recover five years after devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina, and the oil spill's impact to the landscape and economies of Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. |
