I have four years' experience writing for publications such as The Huffington Post, E/The Environmental Magazine, daily newspapers and a trade magazine. I also cover breaking news for The New York TImes as a stringer.

I've covered government, crime, education, economic development and the business of higher education. While reporting in rural eastern Connecticut, I became increasingly intrigued by the impact of development on the natural environment.

I completed a 2007-08 Diversity Fellowship with the Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting, located at the University of Rhode Island. Through this program, I reported on environmental issues at the Times Union, a 90,000-circulation daily newspaper in Albany, N.Y. I've covered topics as diverse as the dangers of burning plastic to the burgeoning faith-based environmental movement.

I have volunteered for a few causes during my professional career. I wrote and edited copy for the 2008 Society of Environmental Journalists conference. I conducted research in 2004 for Grade the News, a nonprofit media research organization in northern California. And I spent a brief period in 2003 providing administrative assistance at San Francisco City Hall. I also serve on the First Amendment Task Force of the Society of Environmental Journalists.

I have lived and worked in California, Connecticut and upstate New York. I am based in the New York metro area.
