I am a storyteller. Based in New York, I work on writing, editing and photography projects. Besides being on a perpetual quest for vivid, elegant prose, I use the camera to explore people and their habitats.
At the moment, a few documentary photo projects are underway. News curation on animal issues occurs regularly on Twitter. In years past, I had been a newspaper reporter. While covering rural eastern Connecticut, development proposals local governments were considering piqued my interest in human impacts on the environment. So I completed a 2007-08 Diversity Fellowship with the Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting, located at the University of Rhode Island. Through this program, I reported on environmental issues at the Times Union, a 90,000-circulation daily newspaper in Albany, N.Y. I've covered topics as diverse as the dangers of burning plastic to the burgeoning faith-based environmental movement. A series I reported explored the impact of climate change on New York state's nature, landscape, economy and public health. My print reportage has appeared in publications such as E/The Environmental Magazine, The Huffington Post and The New York Times. Besides the environment, I've reported on crime, government and education at daily newspapers and a trade magazine. |
